Title: COD - BO
Post by: [GIT]Fairy on August 18, 2010, 06:32:47 PM
Been watching the videos on this, and while its still way jumpy shooty it could be a hell of a lot of fun, plus it will have dedi servers, hopefully hosted on ph33r.  Anyone else interested at all?

Initially there will be no dedicated server files released to the public, aka BC2 etc.  Servers will be up to 18 players.  So who is interested in renting a server, if we cant get it hosted in Dublin that is ;)

Some good footage on boards.ie there.  Looks like they have sorta mixed Cod4, MW2 and some mods together.  Looks like it should be worth the money, as long as theres dedicated servers should be good game play.

Actually looking forward to medal of honour too.
I enjoyed the beta a lot,it felt like BC2 infantry only but vastly improved.
The weapons just felt great to play to me.

This guy seems to be singing from the same hyme sheet despite playing on xbox and not pc.

After seeing how Dice handled BC2 I'm staying well away from MOH.

Was thinking of getting it on Steam so that I can preload it, and unlock it on the day, but it's not on the steampowered site :(

A good game is a good game regardless who made it :)
From what i saw of the beta its a decent shooter that just feels more solid than the COD series to me,refreshing to see recoil in an fps these days, something teryarch seem to be taking into consideration with BO.

I havent played BC2 in ages and haveny following the whole BC2 scene, what way did Dice handle it?
Apart form poor maps and vehicles i still think its a solid title.

CoD BO Server Prices :

For server hosted in London, still no sign of hosting in Ireland unfortunately.  Price is for 18 player server.

For 1 Month $14.95 (approx ?9.95)
3 Month Prepay - $42.61 (approx ?28.37) 5 % Discount
6 Month Prepay - $80.73 (approx ?53.76) 10 % Discount
12 Month Prepay - $152.49 (approx ?101.54) 15% Discount

Let me know the best option, leaning for the 3 or 6 months myself and I'll get it sorted.  Pse also post if you dont mind donating a few pounds as well, its way cheaper than the BC2 server was.

ya i'll prob getting the game too. Can throw a tenner at it.

i'd also say the 3 month or the 6 month if enough people donate. would just need like 7 or 8 people and then that would only be ?6.70 each for the 6 months

OK Server ordered.  Thats it paid for 3 months courtesy of Suppafly, myself and cMan.  Server will be active from 09/11/10 and is paid until 09/02/11.  This will give us a dedicated 18 player COD BO Ops.  Can also confirm that the following game modes will be in COD BO :

Quote
Team Deathmatch : Straight up team deathmatch, use teamwork to kill enemy players and reach the score limit

Free-For-All : Straight up deathmatch,Every man for himselft, kill every one.

Domination :3 Flags must be captured, your team gets points for having control of a flag, the most flag your team holds, the most point you gain.

Demolition : Attackers must destroy 2 bombs site within the time limit.

Headquarters(pro) : A target HQ is marked and activate in 30 seconds.Capture it and defend it.You gain points the longer you hold it.

Search and Destroy : No respawning, defend and destroy the objectives

Capture the flag : Bring the enemy flag to your team's base while your flag is there to score points.

Sabotage : Grab the neutral bomb and plant it on the enemy's bomb site, first to detonate wins!

Also of course there will be the gungame, wager etc etc type games.  Not sure how they work with your own dedicated server.  Also would like to propose that we admin with an iron fist, though be fair.  Usual admins will have rcon access along with those who paid in if they want it.

If dedicated servers can be admined  well, and dedicated removes the pain that was IWNet I feel that CODBO will be a pretty good game!

Any chance of being generous with the ping kick value on this server.
My fcuking connection goes to shit at peak times.
Only fps games i can play when this happens are ones which either dont kick for high ping or maybe something like 300 ms before they kick.
Load of bollox eircom :(

Also on Eircom, but with fairly good pings. What's your speed / line attenuation? Also, what region do you live in, again? I forget :/

Tis contention I'm afraid Syco from what I remember.  Yeah Cully no probs, will make sure ping kick is off, but only if you are on TS drinking beer with us!

Deal!!!
I forget what its like to play fps in the evening and not get kicked.

Syco m in Monasterevin Co Kildare , its 100% a congestion issue.
Pings are 20-30 to european servers in all my games during the day which is fcuk all good to me tbh, its the evenings i want to game.
No plans of anything from UPC etc coming, my only choice is go with Magnet swift which is basically resold eircom bb but with lower contention of 12:1 instead of eircoms 48:1
Im tempted to get this but could be stuck with a 12 month contract with no improvement @ peak times.
I was thinking of waiting for NGB but boards is full of reports of it being worst than you bog stabndard eircom bb.

I could be wrong, but I read that as 12:1 Magnet users on a 48:1 Eircom line...

Bleh. Eircom have f**k all cash since the Aussies raped them for all they were worth, so I can't see an upgrade happening anytime soon :(

Question: are you plugged into the router via cable, or are you connecting via wireless? If the latter, have you tried switching channels (http://www.netopia.com/support/intl/eircom/technotes/IEWG_110.html)? Just on the off chance that your neighbour next door could be using the same channel, and thus causing some added connection problem.

Connected via ethernet cable, its the only way to go tbh,ive disabled wireless in the router too, it was one of the first things i done when this crap started again.
Like i said mate its 100% congestion issue , its only at peak times, eircom have admitted to it, anyone i spoke to in the town has the same isue at the same hours etc.

Been looking at so many gameplay videos of BO recently and all im seeing is sprinting around mindlessly, jumpy shooty, dolphin diving, akimbo BS and annoying perks.
Im seeing nothing different between it and mw2 apart from the addition of diving.
Maybe im unfair to judge a game based on videos but it seems like more arcade rubbish to me, ill get it on 360 for the young lad first before ill bother with it for pc.
Time i faced up to the fact im getting old lol.

Yer just getting Old Cully!  Trust me you can still run and jump, sure I can still do it!

We'll stick to Sab and CTF, the best game modes bar none.  CTF suits all game play types, the campers, the runners and the mad ejits in the middle.  I predict the game will be massive.
