Title: Blocking torrent ports
Post by: [TiG]the_syco on June 06, 2012, 06:41:25 PM
Hello all,
Does anyone know the default torrent ports? Family member who loves downloading torrents is moving back into the house, and I don't want Eircom sending letters about illegal filesharing, so I just want to block a few of the usual torrent ports.

I'll blame the internets if they ask any questions

Not sure you can.  Utorrent by default uses a random port I think.  Google is your friend, sure what harm can your mother do?  :p

Oh hardy-har har.

It's the sister, and I don't want her torrenting her TV shows whilst I'm playing BF3.

Limit the speed of the torrent application instead at certain times.  Can be done with uTorrent from memory.

Configure DHCP on your router with a reservation for the MAC address of her laptop/pc.

Then limit that IP address on the router's firewall to only allow usual traffic, HTTP (80), HTTPS (443) etc.
