Would like some open wheel action, see how it goes, still unsure if I'll lay down cash for it...takes a lot of patience to master.

Grim has taken to it better than me, I'm only running lime rock in consistent laps of 1.09 to 1.12 or so.

molc, you raced too early! I've only been running the practice sessions, trying to get my times up to race competitively, I reckon a 1.04 on lime rock would be well enough.  Also, it's very useful with a few on the praccie track for learning how to deal with traffic.

syco, I think "some guy" has to check his email and do all the promotion codes in a manual batch.

Yeah I thought I was ready. Was about .5 - 1 second off the pace on the oval so thought it would be fine. Boy did I get a suprise when there was 10 other cars on the track! II just paniced and made a mess:)

Cully, got a lend of one of the xbox wheels so I have that at least.

Might take another go later i nthe week on lime rock. I prefer the car and track to the oval. Plus, I'm safer:P

Dang. The Playstation wheel I have, which I was going to use vie the Playstation-USB Adapter, wasn't picked up, so no racing as of yet :(

/edit
Got it working. There was a "DuelShock" switch on the controller, and it didn't sem to like that :/

The controller is a "Gamester" controller, with two pedals, paddle things on the side of the wheel for the gears, so it's all good :D

It was made in the Playstation One era.

no, you can race on the 5 cars included.  you just can't race without practice.  join  some praccy sessions on lime rock in the solstace rookie car.

Ah, cool. Will practice some more by myself. Still getting used to changing the gears, and also to the pedals I'm using  (they tend to move :/ )

Am i right in thinking apart from Tony you guys that joined up are Robert Byrne [Grim] , Paul Cockburn [Molc or Syco]  ?
I might join yas in some solstace practice later if anyone on.

Just wait till yas get promoted to Skip Barber, this is when the real fun starts in anger.
I suggest you run time trials or races so you get your SR above 4.0, that way you will be promoted to advanced rookie when its promotion time, which is pretty soon i think.

If you go with time trials just be clean with 0 incidents and your SR will improve, speed is NOT an issue while time trialing for SR.
Its only an issue if your looking for TT rating, this is not needed to climb up the classes so stick to clean laps if you can.

If you decide to race to work on SR then dont qualify and jsut join races at back of grid, take it easy and run a clean race.

SR gain/loss in a race is at a far greater rate than time trials so if you feel you can run clean without too much risk to others then i recomend some races.
Get your SR to 4.99 which is the max then you can really have a go in races as you will never lose enough SR in a rookie race to drop you back down below the magic 4.0

I'm Colm Quinn on it Cully.

Might try my hand at the time trials on the soltace again. The ovals are just too small and hectic for me.

Aye they are small for the small cars, wait till you hit the large ones and the super speedways.
Nothing like racing 220 mph  inches apart while you wrestle with the 800 horse power Impala SS COT.

Added you to friends Colm :)

Will try some time trials after a praccie session later so, maybe a race or two, although, there's not a lot of people racing the solstice rookie atm, and I presume you need at least a minimum amount of cars on the track?

Do you have to run the whole time trial session, or can you quit after the 10 laps?

syco would be Jerry *something*, not sure who Paul cockburn is.

Yes mate run the full time trial session.
Use your F1 screen to watch how many laps you need complete for a full clean session.
Its tedious but the safest way to gain SR.
Normally there wouldnt be a need but 2 or 3 weeks back the rookies got promoted so rookies are due promotion again very soon.
The rookies get promoted every 4 weeks where as other classes is every 12 weeks.

Ok just to be sure i checked to sporting code for what SR you need for advanced rookie.

2.9.5. Advanced Rookie Series are open to Rookie license holders who have achieved a Safety Rating of 3.00 or higher and to drivers holding a Class D or above license.

NOTE : you can race Class D cars once you get SR of 4.0 even when you are an advanced rookie, the skip barber is Class D.

ALso dont forget you minimum participation requirement.
if you havent reached the requirement you wont be promoted, its something like 4 official sessions, i cant remember.
See section 2.4 of sporting code

2.4.1. Rookies are required to complete at least four official Time Trial sessions OR two official Race Sessions during the current 12-week racing season in order to earn a Class D license (provided their safety record meets the minimum standard) in a particular category.

For quick reference click series tab then click on the class tab and MPR tab for more info for requirements for each class and series etc.
