Scanning...
Just found the same in all EZ files from EA.
1942, '42RtR, '42SWoWWII, NFSU and Nam.
Using AVG, only discovered now.
I assume its an AVG issue.
-
Well spoted!! I got the same and killed the wee fucker!!
-
Whats the virus do ?
-
It more than likely doesn't.
I think it is an AVG false alarm.
Latest Norton on other PC spotted nothing.
It also picks up on some files in sun/java/archives or similar directory.
Did the same to a mate's PC while I was in Limerick.
Just an AVG wobbler.
In fact, scan disc3(red) of Nam. Guess what turns up.
Either EA have been infecting us since pre-NFSU and every other AV-scanner is in on it or AVG is twitchy.
But it is nice to be alerted to the mere risk of a NAM infection.
A real one wouldn't be funny.
-
i didnt know if it was serious or not,i just wanted to pass the warning round the bfv community :)
-
Any idea if EA or AVG know about it?
-
It's probably just a glitch as Devil says. Virus scanners work by looking for patterns (heuristics I think they're called) in files that match paterns made by virus infection. Occasionally a file can have one of these patterns in it purely by chance.
...then again...maybe it is a virus, what do I know ;)
-
It locked them away in AVG's equivolent of Guantanamo Bay so it doesn't really matter.
Think it 'healed' the .zip files in the java directory.
I'm happy, not like I needed EZ_registration anyway.
-
not like I needed EZ_registration anyway.
Well, even if you did use the registration, EA seem to forget about Ireland.
-
Yeah.
Putting an end to this, new definitions are out and a scan of CD1 of Nam now reveals no issues with EA EZreg stuff.
If it had been true, it would have been scarey.
Cheers fli.
