Title: *WANTED* ATI radeon 9800 pro
Post by: [TiG]Chunks on September 08, 2005, 06:06:20 PM: So anybody got one to sell or know where I can get a hold of one? i need it to start up my BF2 career!

Some RAM would be nice too, at present i've got 512Mb of pc2700 ddr ram installed and i need to bring it up to at least 1G

anyone out there with either of the two for me?

I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to graphics cards. Whats the difference between a 9800pro and a gt6600?

Post by: =Warmonger= on September 08, 2005, 10:22:12 PM: well the 9800 Pro, is an Ati card, and the 6600Gt is an Nvidia one, they are very similar, if i were you i'de get my hands on the Nvidia one, or think about something like a Ati X800 XL, thats a little better than both of the others...

Why dont you head on over to http://www.tomshardware.com and do some searches on video cards. You can get benchmarks from games as well as explanations and figure out what the hell is going on in todays marked.

Here is an article that is a little older, but it does compare cards around the generation you are asking about. http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/20050705/index.html Of course there are newer ones out now, so do some searches if you want to get an abslute bleeding edge card. Take a look for the Geforce 7800 and comparable cards.

Well, I only have one slot left for RAM so I'll be needing a 512Mb stick instead if 2x256MB sticks.
If we're talking about the 9800pro on its own........Im gonna throw a figure out there and you have a mull over it..........110yo? sound fair?

Im hoping and guessing its in good nick?

He said if your stuck for a card you could borrow it for a couple of weeks to get you up and running on bf2 until you can sort something else out..

Going rate for a second hand 9800pro is about what you offered to pyro btw so you're in the right ballpark.
