still no joy for me. I can start up the game and log in. Click play now still just gives me the "connection to server lost check your net connection message". Tried opening a few ports that were suggested on the ea forums. I even tried turning off the firewall and that didn't even work. I heard there's a patch out but it says it gets downloaded automatically when u log in but i haven't noticed anything.

Wouldnt auto update for me either.

Heres the manual way todo it.
Go to computer-programs-Electronic Arts-battlefield bad company folder and then theres "bfbc2betaupdater.exe"

That`ll install the update for you.

I bought mine through steam so i don't have that folder and it doesn't seem to be in the steam apps folder. I checked the steam update history and i don't see it listed as being updated. Any other way to find that file?

Suppa steam will update it automatically.  You shouldn't need to do anything.  If you look in your "My Documents" folder you will see a folder for the game.  In this folder there is an xml file.  In it you will see client version.  Mine reads client_version="0.1.0.0.0".

ya its the same version as that fairy. So i suppose it most of installed the new update then. Still no joy with getting on though. Really haven't a clue what the story is like

I doubt it Murray as from what I've read there will be no dedicated server files available.
