Ok i now know that bfv is the problem with my ping.
for sum reason it can be 200-300+ or drop down to 50 at times
(i dnt no why this started happening i just came out of the blue)
i am not downloading anything this has been goin on for near 2 months or so.
strange think is i can play bf2 with a steady ping of 50 all the time.
so it must be a problem with bfv
can someone please help me fix this as i dnt have a clue what to do with routers and that stuff.
i dnt want to have to play bf2 all the time and am starting to just give up with the game that we love so much :mrgreen:

Theres a few things we could check for. It could be punkbuster, so I'd delete that and reinstall. Your also on a wireless conn so could be that, also could your hd may need defragged. Are you on Vista? I was playing BFV on vista on the XPS1730 here and got constant lag problems because of wireless. Have you anyone there who could run a bit of Cat5 for you? If not then maybe a few of us could do a road trip and get you sorted.

reinstalled punkbuster and updated it

What countries would the BF2 servers be in, and what countries would the BFV servers be in?

both uk servers
bfv - jolt 1- getting anywere from 70- 300+ ping ( go's up and down every second)
BF2 - uk server steady 45-52 ping

Hi Abe id be reinstalling BFV at this stage mate.

try the tig server for 30 mins and see if your ping spikes and fluctuates?
check continuous pings in DOS to the IPs of the servers you're having the problem with.
as already advised, completely uninstall and reinstall.
check your firewall is totally turned off when testing, (windows, software and hardware firewalls)

ive moved the pc downstairs and is now connected using the network cable
firewalls all turned off on pc and on the router
and am still getting the high pings.
going to do a system restore to see if that changes anything at all.

OK so its not wireless. Checked firewalls etc as Lucutus indicated?

post a screenie of a continuous ping to a server you have trouble with on here.
ping <ip addy> -t
then post a screenie of a tracert
tracert <ip addy>

was playing all last nite fine and up to say 3-5 2day with 48ping nows its shot up to 200-300 jumping all round the show.
also done a full reinstall of bfv and still no change. :|

also installed the game on downstairs pc same problem.
cod4 is working fine also.
could my isp's filters be misreading this and throttling it? thats all i can think of.

I am writing you in response to your query, As you have mention that the
problem is only appearing with one game, it is possible that the server
of that web site is suffering with the high Internet traffic which can
be the reason you are facing this issue on all the PCs and with all the
routers you have tried. We do not specifically block the ports.
In morning, less number of users are online due to which the problem
does not persist, however in evenings everyone comes home from work
,school & colleges etc. Number of users increased in evening due to
which the server is unable to respond or the ping rate goes high
automatically.
I advise you to contact with the technical support of the online game on
which you are facing this issue. They will be able to tell you what is
the main issue due to which you are unable to play game in the evenings.

You see, if it were constant, it may be the router, but as you're ok some times, but not others, it doesn't look like the case.

What's the ping like on the [TiG] server (89.234.64.91:15567), when the pings are going mental on the english servers? Oh, and check out the pings on a USA server.

pings are the same on tig server.
