Title: Recommend a headphone and mic set
Post by: ButcherOfNog on December 07, 2011, 03:59:29 PM
Evening Gents, can you recommend a headphone and mic set? I've a nice office set-up with my 5.1 speakers sitting exactly where they should be, all dotted around me, and have resisted going the headphones and voice comms route because of this. I like explosions to shake the room :)

However, its limiting with the squad play in BF3, so I really need to get a mic and headphone set sorted, something that is sturdy, has good bass levels and excellent sound quality.

When playing, I have a 4.1 setup, and I have the Sennheiser "SK Gaming" headphones around my neck with the mic positioned in front of my mouth, with "press button to talk" set up. Just because you use a headset, it doesn't mean you shouldn't sue your surround sound :D

I use a cheap set myself, but I know a few of the lads use the Medusa headphones and think they are the bees.

ffs Nog... I had no sound the other night when we played and we did alright in the squad...there's you with that setup and me with nothing!

on topic, I've had 5.1 headsets before, (Speedlink Medusa's) and thougth they were good, if a bit uncomfortable due ot the weight, but they just don't match the quality of sound you get with a good set of stereo phones, not sure about ht elatest crop of 5.1 headsets as I haven't tried any... still happy with my 2.1...  if I ever get my Corsair HS1's back from Germany...

I have a set of logitech G35s 7.1 best sound ive ever heard, pretty expensive but great quality all round, only complaint would be they are a tad heavy and not the most comfortable ive ever used but once you hear the sound you wont care about comfort.
Had some sennheisers and plantronics before that.
I hear Corsair have some great headsets now.

lol, technology is great, the G45's will have automatically timed burstable and directional moisture packs to go off and solve that particular issue for you Kel!
