i ordered myself a headset off Komplett the other day for 17yo, its nothing special just headphones and a mic. However, the mic port is all the way in th back of my comp which means i also have to plug my headphones in there too. This means that every time i need to use my headset i have to pull my comp out from the desk and plug it in. Very annoying, any suggestion out there? any sort of extensions i can get?

You should be able to get a female to male audio cable for yer mic somewhere.
-
That's exactly what I'm faced with.
Its just a stereo audio extension cable I picked up years ago for very little and the Mic goes into that.

same prob as Chunky there ..and now I have the same solutions too .

This is basically what I have Chunks:

It gives me a stereo F point near me that then runs into the soundcard at the back.
Having a headphones jack near me already, I need only one to do the mic.
That cable you pointed to isn't really what you need but it'd do the job if you found one somewhere.
It has two F heads when you only really need one.
Surely some Dublin people could point you to where in town they got their cables.
I picked mine up in quite a small TV/audio shop here in Clonmel so they aren't impossible to find but you might have to ask for one.
If you browsed enough places that flog audio gear and cables you will definitely spot one somewhere.

on a similar note is there such an adapter that u can use a headset for a phone(earpiece and mic) so that u can plug it into the computer to use for sound and speaking?
-
Umm.
The connector look like a normal stereo jack?

Chunks, devil's link is more like it, Maplins used to make up (expensive) custom cables like that, duno if they do it anymore.
Maplins or Peats would be my best bet for a quick fix.

a M$ gamevoice base unit would be good it plugs into the comp/amp and sits on the desk and has headphone and mic sockets on it and with a flick of the switch u can switch between phones or the amps speakers :)

so i plug both connectiond (the mic plug and headphone plug) into the adapter and plug it into my headphone socket on the front of my pc? Can that be done or am I way off the mark?
-
Nope you plug said connecter into line out at the back of PC. You then plug speaker and headphone lead into that and mic into mic input.
You can run speakers and headphones at the same time or just turn speakers off and use headphones instead.
