Man why are you going with Vista.  There are absolutely no advantages to using it what so ever.  Change the order and use yer existing xp man.

Vista is a no no for now mate. Let alone the 64bit version ffs.

Try it with a dual boot system so you still have XP to use.

I was considering it myself, but I will leave it for a year or so tbh.

1GB in XP = excellent
1GB in Vista = minimum requirement

So... how much RAM does the new machine have?

2 gig

From what iv heard from my m8 who had the beta vista turns off its fancy 3d desktop when your playing game's in order to save memory / cpu / gpu for the game so it should be ok ;/

I use my system as a PVR so the better media center in vista was reason enough for me to install it.

After using for a few weeks, I'm fairly happy with it as a desktop for gaming use. Runs everything from SC/FSX/BF2 through to the oldies like BF:V and ET.

Im not that concerned tbh either it works out fine or ill just wipe it and reinstall it / pirate it later ill give it 2-3 months for proper drivers to come out and if after that it isnt running fine its gone.
