power supply I have on my computer is 220-240 v, 3.15A, 50hz  . eeeek
Make and model : Packard Bell,  ixtreme M3720

If i do buy that power suplly mentioned earlier in this thread, and replace it with the one i have now, will my computer start up as normal when the upgrade is done, or would i have to do anything else?

Here's a few pictures.

Looks like a standard hole, with the screw points at the right places, so a new PSU should be able to fit there with no hassle.

Get a modular PSU if you can. If you click here you'll see the benefits of a modular PSU over a non-modular PSU.

The one i currently have is non-modular i think. would that make a difference with respect to wires to the rest of the case?

And do i simply disconnect the wires coming from my current psu to the other parts of the computer?

It may mean that you'll have cables left over. Cable ties can be handy to tidy up excess cables.

Yes. Please note what cables are plugged in where on the motherboard, namly the big long one (ATX power) and the one for your AMD or Pentium CPU (check which one from the PSU goes into it), and the various graphic card and hard-drive power cables.

funds wise i can splash about 200-220 quid on a psu and graphics card.

I don't think a modular psu would fit in my current computer. And i think ill get the 560TI

Um, as far as I can tell, a modular and non-modular PSU can be the same size. The only difference would be that you'd have less cables coming from the modular PSU. Open to correction on that, though.

 the above card has 2 fans so less strain on cooling and noise. tho the ocuk stuff is ment 2 be grand going by what i hear from our hardware specialist tig.grim

wouldn't bother with modular either as fantastically tidy as they are when your on a budget they aren't worth the extra expense
